Rabindranath Tagore with eldest daughter Madhurilata and eldest son Rathindranath When Rabindranath was living in Sajadpur he had a housekeeper. He became dependent on the housekeeper for his domestic chores. One day he did not show up for work on time. Rabindranath noticed that there was no water for bathing. The furniture had not been dusted. He was upset. The housekeeper came around 10 AM. Rabindranath said to him with a stern face, "Where were you?" He replied that his eight year old daughter had died the previous night. Then with a hand towel on his shoulder he quietly started his work. Karmo "Bhrit-ter na pa-e dekha prate.
